Black Women Mean Business

Isabelle Wilkerson & Diane Abbott MP

"AFTER FERGUSON: A look at the history of Twentieth Century Black America"

On 10th September 2014, Black Women Mean Business hosted Pulitzer Prize winning author Isabel Wilkerson, at the House of Commons, for a reading of her New York Times best seller, "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration". The event ended with a lively debate based on her book which sheds much light on black America in the twentieth century.

A History of Black Women Mean Business 1992 - 2012

I set up 'Black Women Mean Business' in 1992 with the aim of supporting, encouraging and celebrating black businesswomen in the UK.It was the first organisation of it's kind at the time and i am very proud that it is still continuing strong today.

As ever, 'Black Women Mean Business' remains a not-for-profit group with a simple agenda; to support, encourage and celebrate black women involved in business as well as black entrepreneurship in general.
